White Peak Distillery is the first full-scale craft distillery in Derbyshire, making award-winning Wire Works Whisky, Shining Cliff Gin and Derbyshire Cask Aged Rum with proud Derbyshire provenance.
A local couple, Max and Claire Vaughan moved back to Derbyshire with the dream of establishing a whisky distillery - Derbyshire and the Peak District were at the heart of the dream from the start.
The former Wire Works that is now home to the Distillery sits next to the River Derwent and is surrounded by Shining Cliff Woods. It’s an amazing location to visit, with centuries of rich industrial heritage sitting next to ancient woodland. There are great walking routes from the Distillery door - explore the woods or stroll along the canal to Cromford.
As well as producing craft spirits, White Peak welcomes visitors on tours every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and offers three different tour experiences with something to suit everyone’s interest. This is the current tour schedule:
Distillery Tours - suitable for all, ends with a whisky, gin and rum tasting.

Whisky Tours – a tour for people curious about, or into whisky. Ends with a whisky tasting.

Warehouse Tours - an immersive, interactive whisky experience involving tasting samples straight from the cask in our Warehouse, alongside plenty of whisky chat!

The Distillery shop is open to the public Monday - Saturday 10-5 and Friday 10-4. The Distillery shop sells hot and cold drinks to take away, as well as snacks. Walkers are welcome to rest and enjoy a coffee in our outdoor Yellow Wood area. Visitors can also purchase craft spirits, glassware, locally thrown ceramics, Bullion chocolate, and gifts
